Industrial hemp has been used since 8000 BC, and it's properties include being anti bacterial, needing no fertilizers and almost no water to grow, it cleans and restaures the nutrients in the soil, and it is also very durable. In fact, Hemp is so strong that Henry Ford even built a car out of it.

They have a dual layer protection, starting with water repellent wax coating embedded in the fabric that keeps them cleaner, and then a waterproof membrane that keeps all liquids out.

Temperature regulation is one of the natural properties of hemp, as it is now starting to be used in construction. Hempcrete, the mix of hemp and lime is super insulating for both temperature and sound.

Got my shoes today, iam so happy with them ! the plus side is the amazing sustainable packaging, very classy, even the enveloppe that contains the shoe box is made of plastic corn .... Its seams that my shoes got lost in the mail, 8000 contacted me by phone and was super eager to check my address so i could get them fast which happened 5 days later ... What are hemp shoes?
Hemp shoes are made like other shoes, but the fiber is different. Common materials used in making shoes are cotton, leather, and polyester. However, hemp shoes are made from hemp fiber, which is one of the various ways hemp plants can be used.
At 8000Kicks we picked hemp because it is very durable, sustainable, anti bacterial, breathable, comfortable and we also made it waterproof.
Is hemp good for shoes?
Hemp is a fiber that has been used for milennia. Ancient Egyptians used it to make rope, textiles, fine linen, and sails.
Hemp is a naturally durable fiber that was widely used in textiles and shoes until it was banned in the 70s. Hemp is also naturally anti-bacterial and anti-microbial, breathable and comfortable, which makes it a great option to build footwear.
At 8000Kicks we also made it waterproof by adding a bio based wax cotting that reppels all liquids from coming in. We have been speding years developing this fiber to the point where we can show the world this is the best natural fiber available.
Are hemp shoes waterproof?
Not all hemp shoes are waterproof.
8000Kicks shoes are waterproof because they were built that way. The outer hemp fabric has a bio wax coating that repells liquids from coming in, as well as a waterproof membrane that keeps liquids out no matter what.
How to clean my hemp shoes?
Each hemp shoe should be cleaned in a different way depending on the type of shoe construction and the type of fibers.
Our shoes are made from premium hemp fibers and we recommend washing them dry using warm water, soap and a kitchen scrub. We do not suggest machine washing as it might damage the shoes' ability to reppel water.
I am not sure which size to pick!
Every brand has their own system and sometimes even models from the same brand differ from each other. But here's how you can find your shoe size.
Select a comfortable pair of sneakers and look at the CM/JP number. That's their maximum fit in CM, therefore your feet will be smaller. Then go to the 8000Kicks table and look for a size with the same range.

We are always opening new sizes. Half sizes, bigger and smaller, you are gradually opening new sizes as our company grows.
What if the shoe doesn't fit? Refunds?
We want to get you in a pair that fit right, and that you love wearing. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, contact us within 60 days of receiving your 8000Kicks to arrange for a replacement, exchange, or refund. Footwear must be in new condition, with no signs of wear, and in original packaging. All returns require a return authorization from 8000Kicks Customer Service. We reserve the right to require a photo of the footwear and unfortunately we can’t offer free return shipping.
Free Shipping and Returns?
We currently have free shipping to the US and EU.
We do not offer free returns in Canada, UK, Australia, NZ, Switzerland, Norway, but we are working on it.
Is there a warranty? Are they durable?
Unfortunately we don't have a warranty because shoes are subject to maximum wear and tear. However, from our experiences both our hemp and our soles have performed very well on our "torture" tests and we can confidently say that they are stronger than any branded sneakers in the same price range. We also tested over 10 types of different glues to find a perfect fit that would survive under the harshest conditions.
However, if for some accident or problem our shoes do not perform as expected, please contact us and we can deal with it and issue a replacement pair if necessary.
Can I smoke the shoe?
Do you really want to smoke our shoe? XD
Hemp is the sober cousin of marijuana, which means that it has no psychoactive components, less than 0.3% THC, which means that technically you are definitely not getting high. Now seriously, please note that smoking the shoe is not a good idea and might get you hospitalized.
Can I take this on a flight? Will police dogs come after me?
8000Kicks are 100% legal everywhere in the world. Our team has traveled to Italy, France, USA, Canada, Morocco, Portugal and many other countries without any issues. Hemp is the sober cousin of marijuana, which means that it has no psychoactive components, less than 0.3% THC, definitely not a drug. In some countries it is illegal to cultivate hemp, but it is 100% legal to buy and sell finished hemp products like soap, paper and apparel as long as it is produced abroad.
